Social Coffee & Tea Roasters HQ
Full interior and workplace design for an award-winning coffee roaster's headquarters — conceived as a modern gallery celebrating the craft of roasting, with custom digitally fabricated artwork and displays.
Architecture Experience provided architectural and interior design services for the Social Coffee and Tea Company headquarters in Richmond Hill, near Toronto. Working with Fare Made, a digital design and custom fabrication firm, we delivered a full interior and workplace solution — lighting fixtures, ceiling design, product shelving and signage displays, furniture layouts, custom digitally fabricated artwork, flooring, and finishes.
Concept
The concept came from the client, who takes coffee extremely seriously. An innovative, award-winning roaster developing and roasting its own blends, Social Coffee's value is in a process most customers never see. The interior exposes it: the headquarters are designed as a modern gallery celebrating the craft of roasting, layering the functions of the space so customers are educated about coffee while they shop.
Making it work as a teaching space
Through design consultancy we developed a concept that lets Social Coffee run taste testing, espresso making, and brewing classes and demonstrations within the same footprint as retail and production — three uses that normally compete for space.
